Pranayama | Breathing Practices - coming soon!

Pranayama is a Sanskrit term composed of two words: "prana," meaning life force or vital energy, and "yama," meaning control or restraint. It refers to the practice of breath control in yoga, where various techniques are employed to regulate and manipulate the breath to enhance physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Regularly incorporating Pranayama practices into your day offers profound changes to your physiology. Improved focus, stress reduction, relaxation, increased focus are just some of the benefits.

Chopra Ayurveda Health - coming soon!

Rooted in Ayurveda’s time-honored wisdom, this program will be presented in 5 classes, each focusing on the core pillars of health.

"Ayurveda" is derived from Sanskrit, with "Ayur" meaning life and "Veda" meaning knowledge or science. Thus, Ayurveda can be translated as the "science of life" or the "knowledge of life."

At its core, Ayurveda views health as a state of balance between three fundamental energies or doshas: Vata (air and space), Pitta (fire and water), and Kapha (earth and water). These doshas govern various physiological and psychological functions in the body, and when they are in balance, it leads to good health, while imbalance can result in disease.

Meditation Offerings - coming soon!

Meditation is often misperceived as a practice of silencing the mind, but in actuality is a practice that allows you to weave silence and stillness into your mind and body to create a life of greater compassion, peace, and fulfillment.

Meditation is a journey inward, leading to more peace, reflection, joy, mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing, and a reawakening of our unconditioned self.

There are many different types of meditation techniques, some use sound, some guided imagery, some silence, some mantra based. Mantra meditation is the techinque I learned from the Chopra PSM program and one of my favorite techniques to share and instruct. Mantra comes from two Sanskrit terms “man,” meaning mind and “tra,” which means tool or vehicle. So a mantra is tool designed to help you focus your mind.

Greetings, My name is Tara Culbertson. I'm a mother raising three sons, alongside my husband and our two furry canine companions. We call the lush landscapes of the Pacific Northwest home. Yes, it really does rain a lot here. So greetings from my corner of the world to wherever you are connecting from.

I am a certified Vedic Educator at Chopra, which means that I have completed certifications in Chopra Meditation, Ayurvedic Health, and Chopra Yoga 200-hr RYT. I have a bachelor’s degree in Natural Health. I am a lifetime learner of mind-body-spirit teachings, nutrition, and I deeply enjoy puzzling on why and how things work. I have come to see that learning and studying all of these practices, at the core of it, for me, has been wellness. That’s where Tara’s Wellness Garden took root.  I look forward to sharing these wellness practices that I have weaved into my own daily routine.

To me, wellness is a combination of practices that make you feel most whole. How can I be my best self and show up in the world for myself, my family, and the larger whole. I see it as balancing different pillars of wellness: Sleep, Nutrition, Physical, Spiritual, and Mental Well-Being, and Connection. Each of us have a unique physiology, and each unique needs. Different seasons of life call for different practices to keep our wellbeing in balance.

It is my hope that you find wellness practices that resonate best with you, and that you live a life of balance, lightness, and joy. I hope to connect with you soon!
